The Jackson County city of Ravenswood will have new leadership.

Michael Ihle defeated incumbent Lucy J. Harbert in the mayor's race of Jackson County's largest municipality, according to preliminary and unofficial vote tallies from Tuesday's primary election.

Ihle received 701 votes, or 63 percent, compared to 405, or 36 percent, for Harbert. He is a newcomer to city government having previously made an unsuccessful bid for city council.

Harbert, who served as recorder and on council prior to being a multi-term mayor, has been a vocal advocate for the reopening of Century Aluminum.

The Ohio River community will also have two new council members. Jared Bloxton received 649 votes and Don Titus received 484 votes to win council seats. They will join incumbents Michael Kelly, who received 726 votes; Gary Cross, who won 614 votes; and Judy Wiseman, who received 512 votes. Other council candidates were Sue Quillen, who earned 477 votes; Jack Greene, who earned 452 votes; Cheryl Greathouse, who earned 375 votes; and Bob Ware who received 319 votes.

Incumbent recorder Kathy Garrett  received 467 votes and was re-elected. She was opposed by Debi Hunt, who garnered 389 votes, and Phyllis Bibbee, who earned 238 votes.
