LEWISBURG -

The Greenbrier County Board of Education race was decided Tuesday night and the western district will no longer have two representatives.

Ronceverte minister and first time candidate Stephen Baldwin lead the race with 28 percent of the vote, and will serve as the central district representative beginning July 1.

Baldwin said he wants to be a voice for all of Greenbrier County when it comes to serving the education system.

"Public education matters to everyone in the community. No matter if you're a business person, if you are a parent, a teacher, a community leader. Education is vital to what each and every one of us do," said Baldwin.

Baldwin beat current board member Hazel Reed, who served as one of the two representatives for the western district.

Current board member Robert Toothman secured the other board seat with 26 percent of the vote.
