West Virginia State Police Corporal Andrew Loudin is recovering at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown after being shot in the chest by David Dumire last Thursday, according to W.Va. State Police First Sergeant Michael Baylous.

Baylous said Loudin was up and moving around last weekend and was talking to friends and family.

Corporal Loudin is doing quite well considering the circumstances, Baylous said.

Corporal Loudin will remain at the hospital to be monitored to make sure he is doesn't have any other medical issues.

State Police have now determined Corporal Loudin was shot twice by Dumire, once in the chest and again in his back, while walking away from Dumire, headed to his car.

Police said William David Dumire shot Corporal Andrew Loudin just after 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon.

Loudin was visiting Dumire as part of an ongoing investigation. Dumire was reportedly the subject of a child sexual abuse investigation.
