The West Virginia Development Office has created the magazine West Virginia Edge to promote the state's businesses, resources and success stories.

"West Virginia offers countless business advantages and we want to show that our state and her people are always the right investment," said Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin. "Our approach to responsible government has produced a positive business climate for new and expanding companies that want to grow in a stable and secure state like West Virginia."

"West Virginia Edge is the newest tool in our ongoing campaign to aggressively promote West Virginia, inside and outside the state," said Secretary of Commerce Keith Burdette. "The magazine is a means of getting our message out and making people more aware of the opportunities in West Virginia."

The premiere issue is available online at www.wvcommerce.org/EDGE. Users may access expanded online articles as well as an interactive version optimized for iPads that integrates videos and photo galleries into the content.

The magazine will be sent to about 30,000 individuals and businesses. The readership includes small business executives as well as those in Fortune 1,000 companies, state business development agencies such as small business development centers, state and local government officials, West Virginia economic development agencies and the state's trade associations.

The glossy, full-color magazine was written and designed in-house by West Virginia Department of Commerce staff. The initial issue features the chemical industry's history in West Virginia and its innovative future; the big success of small businesses; advanced manufacturing technology; and the beckoning charms of small metros and main streets across the state.
