Commemorate the Civil War Battle of Lewisburg with a historic re-enactment planned May 19-20.
The event includes living history speakers; scholars; Confederate and Union military and civilian camps; ladies' tea; battalion dress parade; night military tactical and night surgery; and camp church services.
A re-enactment of the May 23, 1862 battle takes place downtown on Washington Street on at 2 p.m. Sunday. After the battle the wounded will be taken by a period ambulance back to the medical tent where there will be demonstrations of bandaging, operations and general care of the wounded.
