Several 2011 Bluefield Blue Jays Off to Strong Starts in 2012 at Class-A Lansing

Outfielder Kevin Pillar tied a Lugnuts team record by pounding out six hits, including a grand
slam, en route to a six-RBI game Saturday. Pillar is third in the league with a .319 average, and
leads the Lugnuts with 19 RBI. He has successfully stolen 13 bases in 14 attempts this season.

Pitcher Noah Syndergaard has been solid on the mound for the Lugnuts this year, compiling a 3-
0 record and a 2.19 ERA while striking out 35 batters in 24.2 innings pitched. He has held the
opponent scoreless in five of eight appearances this year.

Pitcher Aaron Sanchez is the Lugnuts team leader in both wins (4) and ERA (0.78). The right-
hander has struck out 28 in his 23 innings this year. As a starter, he has posted 10 scoreless
innings this season.

Pitcher David Rollins has started a team-leading eight games, posting a 3-0 record and a 2.23
ERA while striking out 35 batters in 36.1 innings. Opponents are hitting just .239 against him
this season.

Pitcher Ajay Meyer leads the Midwest League with 12 saves and 17 appearances, striking out 15
in 16.2 innings this season.

Pitcher Tyler Ybarra has posted a 3.38 ERA while striking out 20 in 18.2 innings over 10 relief
appearances for the Lugnuts.

Outfielder Chris Hawkins, the 2011 Toronto Blue Jays Webster Award winner, is hitting a
league-leading .338 and is second in hits with 44.

Catcher Chris Schaeffer got his first start of the season for Lansing on Sunday, going 3-4 with
two doubles.
