MASON, OH -

The following is a press release from Bluefield College:

The Bluefield Rams baseball team will arrive in Mason, Ohio on Monday evening ahead of its opening game on Wednesday at the 2012 NCCAA Baseball World Series as they begin their quest for a second national championship in the last four seasons.

The Rams (31-27) capped off an incredible run in the Mid-East Regional tournament last week in Mayfield, Kentucky after winning the regional crown in game two of the Regional Final against Mid-Continent University on Friday.

On Sunday, the NCCAA announced the opening pool-play brackets for the World Series which will start on Wednesday morning and run through Friday afternoon.

Bluefield will begin their quest for a 2012 crown with a tough challenge when they face #2 seed, California Baptist, in their opening game at 1:00pm on Wednesday. The Lancers are making their first trip to the World Series as a new member of the NCCAA and have a 38-12 overall record.

The Rams will follow-up its opener with a double-header on Thursday at Prasco Park. BC will open the day against an Ohio-based team, Malone University. The Pioneers clinched the East Region by defeating Nyack and Houghton to advance to the national event. They enter with a 31-21 overall record.

Later that day, Bluefield will face recent familiar foe, Mid-Continent University, who the Rams defeated in the regional tournament to advance to the World Series. The Cougars received one of the three 'at-large' bids for this year's tournament, alongside Nyack and Emmanuel. Mid-Continent, a part of the TransSouth in the NAIA, finished with 25-35 overall record.

Coach White and his crew will finish pool play action off on Friday morning at Legacy Field against another tough side, #3 Oklahoma Wesleyan. The Eagles captured the Midwest title by defeating Colorado Christian twice to advance to Ohio and enter with a 38-23 record.

The World Series will continue through the week with the final four teams advancing into the elimination round. The two top teams from each pool will advance into the semi-finals on Friday and Saturday. The Championship game is scheduled for a 1:00 pm first-pitch on Saturday, May 23.

Each team involved in this year's tournament will play two (2) games on each field, two at Prasco Park and two (2) on Legacy Field.
