Emergency responders were called to the scene of a train accident on Monday, May 20. A person was apparently hit by a CSX train in a remote part of Fayette County. The call came in at around 1:30 p.m.

People will be filling Word Park in Beckley on Friday May 18th for the highly anticipated Beckley Renaissance series Fridays in the Park.
Weekly from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Word Park in Beckley will be opened up for people to enjoy food and entertainment until the series closes August 31st.
Friday May 18th Beckley Renaissance will be featuring the students from the Greater Beckley Christian School at 11:30 a.m. followed by Travis Cutshaw at 12:15 p.m. Cutshaw performs Christian music. Friday May 25th Alan Kinsler will take the stage.
According to Jill Moorefield with the Beckley Renaissance they will be presenting several new performers this year, "including country, jazz, folk, oldies, gospel, bluegrass, reggae, and dance."
Actors from Theatre West Virginia will be previewing their summer plays and musicals on June 22nd and August 3rd.
Fresh produce is scheduled to be sold during Fridays in the Park at Beckley Intermodal Gateway's parking garage.
Fridays in the Park are based weekly weather permitting.
