Search Continues for Missing Fayette County Rafter

Posted: Updated:

Rescue crews are still scouring the New River in search of a Fayetteville man who went missing Wednesday.

Bradly Alexander Sr., 41, was rafting the river with his 21-year-old son when they somehow went overboard.

The son managed to make it safely to shore, but his father was last seen swimming without a life jacket.

He was guiding the raft about 2.5 miles upstream from Stone Cliff Bridge.

His daughter Heather Alexander spoke exclusively with 59News Thursday afternoon about her father's disappearance.

"We get a lead and then it turns out to just not be anything," Alexander said. "We get our hopes up, but the family being here all together is so helpful. We have more family on the way. We're just not leaving until he's found."

Leaders with the National Park Service said the effort remains a rescue mission.
