Out of State Sex Offender Arrested in Beckley

Beckley police arrest a New York man for failing to register as an out of state sex offender.

Eric Larkin of Glen Falls, New York was convicted in 2006 for the rape of 22 and 26 year old women.

Officers say Larkin was living and attending college in Raleigh County but he was not registered as is required by law.

Out of state sex offenders are required to register with the state police if they are present for more than 15 consecutive days, employed or enrolled as a student and attending school.

Police say Larkin had been living in Beckley and was enrolled in a local college since January.

Once officers checked with New York.  They found the state was not aware Larkin had left their jurisdiction.

Larkin is in the southern regional jail on $30,000 dollars bond.
