Marines Pushed to the Brink in Beckley

The few. The proud. The marines....pushed to the brink in Beckley.

Recently enlisted Marines were put to the test on the football field of Woodrow Wilson High School Saturday, their last chance to take the Marine Corps Fitness Test before heading to boot camp for the summer.

"It is designed to wear you out. It's also designed to show you that you can push yourself past that limit. Everybody gets tired from time to time. The marines are trained to push past that limit where your body may give out," said Sgt. Daniel Hyden.

This isn't the first or last time Marines will have to take the test, according to Hyden. Throughout their career, Marines take the test numerous times. This time, though, is their last chance to take the test before boot camp.

"Bootcamp in the Marine Corps is no Disney World. There are no stress cards bootcamp is hard," Hyden added.
