Reds' Chapman will get more chances to close

CINCINNATI (AP) -

Left-hander Aroldis Chapman will get more chances to close games for the Cincinnati Reds.

Chapman picked up his second career save on Sunday by finishing off a 5-2 win over the New York Yankees. The Reds have been looking for someone to take the spot of closer Ryan Madson, out for the season with a torn elbow ligament.

The hard-throwing Cuban may be the answer.

Manager Dusty Baker said on Monday that Chapman will get more save opportunities. Baker wants to see how Chapman adjusts to the pressure and the demands of the role. He hasn't thrown three days in a row, which a closer typically will do.

Chapman hasn't allowed an earned run in 22 1-3 innings this season and has struck out 39.
