Hormone Replacement Therapy Could Benefit Some Women

Posted: Updated:

Researchers have come full circle on hormone therapy.

A major reappraisal of a landmark report finds hormone therapy near the onset of menopause, will benefit most women, not just for the relief of hot flashes, but also for reducing the risk of heart disease and bone fractures.

Hormone therapy dropped off dramatically after a 2002 study found that the risks far outweighed the benefits among older women.

But experts who worked on the original study says the results were for women who were 12 years passed menopause not for women near menopause.
