    Emergency responders were called to the scene of a train accident on Monday, May 20.  A person was apparently hit by a CSX train in a remote part of Fayette County.  The call came in at around 1:30 p.m.
    The victim was apparently covering her head with a blanket to shelter from the heavy rain storms.

A string of smartphone workshops held by cell phone carrier U.S. Cellular continue in southern West Virginia.

U.S. Cellular aims to help new and potential smartphone users get the most from their mobile device.  A free workshop is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22 at the U.S. Cellular store in the Beckley Crossing shopping center.

Topics covered during the event will include basic features and functions, as well as hot to download the latest apps to save money on gas and groceries.  Associates will also teach attendees how to get step by step directions and how to synch calendars.

The workshop will focus on Android-powered Windows Phones and BlackBerry devices including the 4G LTE and Samsung products.
