The Hatfield-McCoy Trail is finally making its way into Mercer County with their Pocahontas ATV trail.  Business leaders and local law makers are elated for the off road excitement which is anticipated commerce into the region.

"This is going to be such a boast maybe even a boom for here in Mercer County," said Bramwell Mayor Lou Stoker.

Stoker said since the announcement of the trail moving into town it has brought a spark of business into the community, "we have seen new business literally pop up."

Mercer County Choppers opened up a lodging business six years ago once the owners noticed a need from the ATV trail visitors.

"We are just now seeing the benefits of going nightly. So it's a pretty exciting time for us to accommodate out of town folks for a long time to come," said Steve Spencer a Co-Owner with Mercer County Choppers.

Bluefield Chamber of Commerce President Marc Meachum said they've waited for years for the trail expansion into the area, "no more delay the trail is here or the trails here and ready to open."

The Pocahontas trail section will be opened at 12 p.m. on Friday May 25th at the trailhead on Route 1-20 between Route 25 in downtown Bramwell.

On Saturday May 26th musical guests will be performing in celebration of the trails opening at Coal Heritage Interpretive Center at 6 p.m. Food will be available for purchase.

The Hatfield-McCoy Trails connect through nine southern West Virginia counties.
