McDonald's is set to hire more than a hundred new employees at several locations across Southern West Virginia.
The one-day event is part of a region-wide initiative to bring in new workers before the summer bump in business.
Managers said they are trying to fill a variety of positions, ranging from management to entry-level jobs.
Myra Harper, the owner of the store on Eisenhower Drive, started working at McDonald's as a cashier when she was 16. "There are jobs out there if you want them. If you're willing to come to work on time, show up when you're scheduled to work and you're willing to smile and be pleasant, there are plenty of jobs available."
Through McDonald's 'Hiring Day,' Harper is hoping to bring more than a hundred workers on board, welcome news to the thousands of people across Southern West Virginia looking for work.
Last week, the state labor report revealed the unemployment rate in Raleigh County actually rose, despite having fallen in 42 counties across the state.
"In this market, it's tough to find jobs, especially for college students like myself that meets our needs and our jobs experience," said Jeremy Backaus, the latest hire at the McDonald's on Eisenhower Drive.
