ALDERSON -

Preparations are underway in Alderson for West Virginia's largest Fourth of July Celebration.

The 51st annual festival kicks off June 28 with a week of contests, a bicycle race, a 5K run, and a talent show.

Concerts and other free entertainment are also parts of the Alderson homecoming celebration.

"We all look forward to everyone coming back every year and participating, having a lot of fun. Of course we have a parade that is usually over two miles long and that will be July 4," said Rick Parker, Alderson Community Center President.

Two firework displays will be showcased during the event and more than 70 prizes will be awarded at the rubber ducky race as the festival wraps up on July 5.

The grand prize winner of the rubber ducky race will walk away with $5,000.
