The Bluefield Union Mission in Mercer County is serving more people through the spring and summer months compared to the fall and winter.

Historically in the summer charities tend to struggle more in getting donations because many people and organization make their donations during the winter and fall months.

The director of the Bluefield Union Mission, Craig Hammond, said he experiences this first hand and the need is ever changing.

"In the summer time we have just as much if not more people coming in for food because the kids we serve their children are on free or reduced lunches during the school year. So we have a bigger number of people who we serve in the summer than in the winter," said Hammond.

Food, Clothing and Monetary donations can be dropped of any time at The Bluefield Union Mission 24 hours a day.
