OAK HILL -

A dentist out of Oak Hill will go before a judge on Thursday, May 24 for allegedly passing out pills.

Dr. Charles E. Shelton was arraigned in front of Judge John Hatcher on 30 counts of Constructive Delivery of a Controlled Substance. That was scheduled for 1:30 p.m.

According to the indictment from the grand jury, Shelton was "knowingly without a legitimate medical, dental or other authorized purpose" writing prescriptions for hydrocodone from May 2010 until January 2012.

The prescriptions were allegedly delivered by Shelton's son, Charles E. Shelton, Jr. to several different people over the course of the time they were written.  The younger Shelton is listed as an accomplice in the indictment.

Fayette County Prosecuting Attorney, Carl Harris said he asked Judge Hatcher to issue a $10,000 bond on Shelton.
