From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, May 25 the Beckley VA Medical Center hosted a Stand Down for Homeless Veterans.
Representatives from the VA were on hand at the Rainelle-Greenbrier County 811th Ordnance Armory in Rainelle. Free meal and clothing were handed out. The VA was joined by other local agencies to provide employment information as well as enrollment for healthcare and benefits.
The Veterans Stand Down is modeled after the military concept used during the Vietnam War to provide a period of rest and resupply for exhausted combat troops.
