WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS -

The streets of White Sulphur Springs have been buzzing with both locals and visitors for this weekend's annual West Virginia Dandelion Festival.

Each year during Memorial Day weekend, vendors and entertainers fill downtown White Sulphur Springs for a weekend of special activities.

The festival celebrates the dandelion as well as our country's heroes.

"I know a lot of mothers and grandmothers have gotten bouquets of dandelions for years and years, but it's also in honor of our veterans," said Mayor Thomas Taylor.

Sunday's special events featured a Veteran's Appreciation Memorial Service to honor those who put their country first.

"We also honor them tomorrow at our veterans only breakfast at the White Sulphur Springs Community Center and that is sponsored by the VA Medical Centers Employee Association," said Paul Moya, a festival volunteer.

One of the highlights for this year's festival featured musical entertainment.

"A big concert last night, over 2,000 people filled in downtown for the concert, the Davidson Brothers," said Taylor.

Musical entertainment was also a fan favorite for the younger generation.

"When there was a band, I got to get on, actually on the stage," said Skylar Brooks, a first grader from White Sulphur Springs.

Children might have had the most fun of anyone around.

Fun Factory from Fayetteville brought in the only mobile zip line in the state, along with other activities to keep the children happy.

"We've got a zip line, it's about 250 feet long. We've got a rock wall, we also have what they call the adrenaline rush, it's a big obstacle course. We've got a ninja that's a smaller obstacle course," said Patricia Fenton with Fun Factory.

The Dandelion Festival parade will begin at noon Monday in downtown White Sulphur Springs.

Kids activities will stay open Monday until 4 p.m.
