W.Va. Man Suspected of Killing 4 had Drug Debt

CHARLESTON (AP) -

Court documents show a West Virginia man suspected of killing two adults and two young children owed a drug debt to 1 of the victims and had been sentenced to prison five years ago in another drug dispute.

James Roy Belknap was arrested in Nicholas County at a police roadblock Monday following a 3-day manhunt.

State Police say the bodies of Steven Hendrix, his girlfriend, Amber Martin, and two children, ages 4 and 6, were found Saturday on Belknap's property. It's about one mile from where Hendrix's van was discovered Friday night.

State Police Sgt. D.A. Evans says an investigation found Belknap owed Hendrix money for drugs "and they had been fighting about the payment."

Belknap is being held at the Central Regional Jail. He has requested a public defender.
