Looking towards the future is a common theme when Senator Joe Manchin spoke to seniors today about how the older Americans act will impact them in the years to come.

The Older Americans Act is responsible for delivering social and nutrition services to those over the age of 60. Senator Manchin is working to expand the act to include more. He is sponsoring two amendments to the act that would give seniors a financial bill of rights and another that would streamline services for older veterans.

"So the more that we can do to help people live a more fruitful life more independent life the better we all benefit from this so that is why the older Americans Act is very very critical," Sen. Joe Manchin, (D) West Virginia said.

"Well I wanted to hear he is saying about older folks, I am getting to be one," Danny McMllion said.

While McMillion is seeking answers for her future, other seniors shared concern for their grandchildren and generations to come.

Senator Manchin said a bright future is dependent on the way the environment is cared for. ]

"We should be using everything possible to be more independent and more secured so we will talk about that and they have questions because they are concerned about their children and grandchildren and future generations and we should be worried about the next generation," Senator Manchin said.
