BLUEFIELD -

The search is on for a new city manager in Mercer County.

Just one day after Andrew Merriman has stepped from the position as Bluefield City Manager, the city board held a meeting to discuss the future.

"We feel we have some very qualified staff in place to move the city forward without a glitch. we can't officially say that until our board meeting," Mayor Linda Whalen said.

Mayor Whalen said Merriman has accepted a position elsewhere and an interim city manager will be appointed at the city board meeting on June 12th.

She said the city will continue to review applications until the position is filled.
