Princeton Advances to Championship Game

CHARLESTON -

Princeton used a quick jump to propel itself to a semifinal win in the state baseball tournament.

The Tigers scored four runs in the first two innings to win 5-1 over Bridgeport at Appalachian Power Park.

J.J. McPherson drove in two runs and recorded two triples. Austin Southcott collected three hits.

On the mound, J.C. Pennington went six innings, and allowed three hits without giving up a run. Alex Quick relieved Pennington in the seventh.

The Tigers improve to 25-8 and will play in the championship game on Saturday at 10 a.m.
