Recordings of 911 calls reveal several people witnessed the fight involving a 65-year-old homeless man whose face was mostly chewed off along a busy highway.
Callers in the three recordings released Friday by authorities only report seeing two men fighting in the shadow of The Miami Herald headquarters and don't mention seeing Ronald Poppo's face being chewed. He remains hospitalized.
A female bus driver urges a 911 operator to send help after seeing a naked man beating another man "to a pulp" on the MacArthur Causeway.
The unidentified woman says: "He's going to kill that man, I promise you."
It's not clear why Poppo was attacked Saturday by 31-year-old Rudy Eugene. Surveillance video shows Eugene stripping and pummeling Poppo. A police officer fatally shot Eugene during the attack.
