UNION -

A plaque memorializing a Monroe County conservation officer killed in the line of duty was relocated to the courthouse grounds in Union Saturday.

Officer Wesley Frame was shot and killed in November of 1978 by a man he had arrested for littering in a stream.

Today, Frame's family and community members came together to honor his life by unveiling the plaque in its new location, next to the county courthouse gazebo.

Sgt. M. A. Sylvester, a personal friend of Frame, was on hand to reflect on his friend's life and sacrifice.

"He was a family member. He was a member of our department and we look upon each other like family. So we're here to honor his service," said Sylvester.

At the time of his death, 28-year-old Frame had been with DNR for only a year.

He is survived by his wife and son.
