UNION -
The best of Monroe County was on display in downtown Union Saturday.
The city hosted its 58th annual Farmer's Day celebration with a parade and live music, and Annie Moore was there for the story.
"Farmer's Day for Monroe County is just one of the best days of the year. Everybody comes out to meet a lot of different organizations. So it's one of our chances to get our here and show people what we do. And just participate in what's a wonderful thing for the county," said Valerie Hansbargar with the Monroe County Animal League.
From the pancake breakfast to the parade, it was fun for the whole family.
The celebration is a showcase of Monroe County's bread and butter.
"It's been special ever since I was a kid. It's been lost of fun. There's lots of things to do. It's great seeing people I haven't seen in a long time. I was here when Union was Union High School so it's been a long time," said Charlene Boyce of Monroe County.
Valerie Hansbargar has been attending farmer's day since she was little.
She is showcasing her work with the Monroe County Animal League this Farmer's Day.
To those attending farmer's day for the first time, she said, her advice is simple.
"Union itself is one of the best things Monroe County has to offer. There's some great restaurants in town. I think just take it all in. Go out and enjoy yourself. Stop and talk about your life, your cause and just take it all in," said Hansbargar.
The event went out with a bang.
A firework display was scheduled to wrap up the celebration.
