The Beckley Sanitary Board gave folks an inside look at one of the projects nearing completion on the Beckley Intermodal Gateway project.
The board's design team showed off their creation of the Rain Gardens.
The Rain Gardens provide a way to collect, reduce and clean runoff.
They can also reduce pollution and mitigate flood risk.
"Their not gonna see this as anything more than a landscape-flowered area that sort of beautifies the corner of the city," Jeremiah Johnson, with Beckley Sanitary Board, explained, "but the main thing is it's not only that, but it's also a functional system that manages runoff and keeps it out of various streams."
Johnson says the Rain Gardens will soon be completed, and the entire BIG project is in its final stages as well.
