After three years of work, a building intended to house the Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney's Office won't be used for that purpose.

According to Raleigh County Prosecuting Attorney Kristen Keller the building, which is located next to the Raleigh County Judicial Center, is too small for her 16 employees, so now renovations are needed for the building her office is currently housed in.

Since the Raleigh County Commissioners intended for Keller's office to move they admit they neglected the building they are now in.

There is mold, ruined ceiling tiles, missing roof shingles, leaky windows, and insufficient lighting throughout the office.

County Commission President John Aliff said, "we want to make it a nice building but it would be a major undertaking."

Aliff said there is grant money available for a new roof.

Commissioners said they expect the repairs to be upwards of 200,000 dollars.

County Commissioner Dave Tolliver, who was once a State Fire Marshal, says the building isn't up to date on safety code.

"It doesn't come close. It's in very bad shape," said Tolliver.

The construction bid for the renovation is expected to go out soon. More information will be given at the next county commission meeting June 19th.
