BECKELY -
Beckley Police said murder charges will be filed in a domestic battery case after the victim is taken off of life support.
Police said 43-year old Arthur Agnew of Beckley will face first degree murder charges after his girlfriend, 48-year Theresa Wilson, died this morning.
Beckley officers said Wilson was taken to a Charleston area hospital after suffering injuries as a result from being beaten.
They said before she died from the injuries Wilson was able to give a statement that led police to believe her live-in boyfriend Agnew was responsible for domestic battery.
"This is something we don't ever want to see and we would hope that people would reach out and make contact with resources. we have the women's resource center in Beckley as well as a domestic violence officer for the department and you are welcome to come and speak with us there are at a lot of relief options out there," Detective Morgan Bragg of the Beckley Police Department said.
Officers said this isn't the first time Agnew has been in trouble with the law.
He faces several drug charges in North Carolina.
Right now, Agnew is being held in the Southern Regional Jail.
