The search is on for a man who absconded from his home confinement.

Teddy Schmelter, 36, is wanted by the Raleigh County Sheriff's Department on felony escape charges.

Schmelter was on home confinement at his residence in Mead, but absconded on Tuesday, May 29.

He was originally charged with conspiracy to commit a felony.

Deputies say he is approximately 5-feet, 9-inches tall and 170 pounds.

He has blonde hair and blue eyes.
