PRINCETON -

West Virginia's Transportation Enforcement Division kicked off their Road Check 2012.

The Public Service Commission is trying to make our roadways a little safer they are conducting a 72 hour check point at the Bluestone travel plaza on 77 North and it is all a part of promoting safety on our roadways.

Officials said all trucks passing the Bluestone Travel Plaza Wednesday through Thursday must pull over for a check point. Not every truck will be inspected but officials said they are looking to crack down on safety issues. They said these check points help to prevent highway fatalities.

"This year the commercial safety vehicle alliance sponsors the road check and we are emphasizing on keeping West Virginia roadways safe and secure and our areas of emphasis are brake system maintenance and drivers fatigue," Matthew Epling Enforcement Officer said.

Officials said one-thousands trucks have already passed through the checkpoint and they are expecting one0thousand more because the check point will remain open until Thursday June 7th.
