Federal prosecutors say they'll ask for more time to indict Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev.
Federally funded extended unemployment benefits won't be available for West Virginians after Saturday, June 9.
According to a release from the West Virginia Department of Commerce the decrease in the state employment rate lead to the unavailability of the Extended Benefits. The change does not affect the 26 weeks of regular state funded benefits claimant are potential eligible to receive or the 47 weeks of federally funded Emergency Unemployment Compensation benefits.
Even without the extended benefits, West Virginians who are unemployed would still be potentially eligible for up to 73 weeks of unemployment compensation benefits.
The West Virginia Department of Commerce said there are currently 1,156 claimants receiving Extended Benefits.
Workforce West Virginia is required be law to notify recipients of changes in their benefits. A notice has been mailed to affected claimants and additional information is online at www.workforcewv.org.
