FAIRLEA -
It's getting closer to crunch time as employees at the State Fair of West Virginia prepare for the 2012 state fair in Fairlea.
Putting on an event that gathers hundreds of thousands of visitors requires extra manpower.
The state fair is now accepting applications for employment during the nine day fair, which runs August 10-18.
The fair will hire more than 220 people and some positions even begin before fair week,
"We have ticket sellers, ushers in concerts, our exhibit areas. Different parts of the fairgrounds have different needs. We have parking and some grounds security pieces and some office work. A little bit for everyone. We've been a great first summer job for lots of young people," said Marlene Pierson-Jolliffe, State Fair of West Virginia CEO.
Private vendors at the fair will also have employment opportunities in August.
Applications to work at the 2012 State Fair of West Virginia can be picked up at the fairgrounds in Fairlea.
