Many Seniors Have Trouble Crossing the Street

Posted: Updated:

The vast majority of seniors are unable to cross the street in time.

Researchers in London found more than 75 percent of people ages 65 and older were unable to walk 3-point-9 feet per second, the speed needed to use a pedestrian crossing in England and many other parts of the world.

The study found that older men walked an average of 2-point-9 feet per second, older women an average of 2.6 feet per second.

Researchers say not being able to cross a busy street severely impacts senior's quality of life.
