OAK HILL -

Students in Fayette County will have a safer ride to school this fall.

Four brand new school buses were purchased by the school district with the help of a grant from the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection.

School officials said these new buses reduce emissions and are safer for students.

"The critical way that this is helping is that is will control the emission. if it is idling it will shut down the exhaust closes and you won't be polluting the environment as much," Dwight Dials, Superintendent Fayette County said.

Officials said in just one year a school bus driver drives over 1 million miles and uses 150 thousand gallons of fuel.
