The Beckley City Police Department is looking for a few good men and women.
Captain Jeff Shumate said the department has 8 open positions to fill.
Shumate said while they have 7 applicants they hope to hire by July, 1 position is still up for grabs.
He said the application process is lengthy and encourages folks to apply.
"There is actually a lot of steps they have to go through which is very important you only want to hire people who have the ability to do this job because it is so important in society," Captain Jeff Shumate said.
The first step in the application process is to take a standardized test, the next is a physical fitness assessment.
