Citizens Gather in Lewisburg to Discuss National Debt

Residents of southern West Virginia were invited to a forum on Wednesday, June 20 to discuss the National Debt.

The free event is a collaboration between the National Issues Forums Institute and the Kettering Foundation.  People who registered by the June 15 will gather at the Greenbrier County Courthouse at 6 p.m.  They will discuss three approaches to confront the national debt as laid out in an guide with the title "A Nation in Debt: How Can We Pay the Bills?"

Other recent topics in the series include economic security, America's role in the world, health care and education.  According to a release, the citizens forum format proves an environment for citizen deliberation in framing what are the important issues and decisions regarding public matters.  The forums are nonpartisan and encourage diverse viewpoints.
