An Alderson treasure reopens for tourism season and celebrates 125 years in business.

Alderson's Store began as a general store in 1887 and continues to be a tourist favorite today.

The store is known for its carved Indiana limestone structure, as well as the carved walnut interior fixtures.

As the store evolved over the last 125 years, so has the merchandise.

"We are more or less a small department store. We have some antiques. Women's accessories, some men's accessories. Hats, bags. We've been to Atlanta to buy the latest things for this season," said Betty Alderson, store owner.

Alderson's Store is located on Monroe Street and is open Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
