BECKLEY -
Dancing with the Stars has been a popular part of reality television, but now an event scheduled in southern West Virginia will get the community involved and help the local United Way.
59 News' Courtney Clark is teaming up with 2010 Spirit of Beckley award winner Bill Baker to dance the night away and help the United Way of Southern West Virginia raise money toward their $500,000 goal in 2012.
Courtney and Bill are competing against five other teams in the contest set for Sept. 14 at the Beckley Raleigh County Convention Center. However votes are already coming in for the people's choice award. Those votes are cast online at the special United Way Dancing with the Stars web site. The cost is $5 a vote and goes directly to the half-million dollar goal.
There will also be a Judge's Choice award that will be decided by a panel of three judges based on technical skill and footwork.
Tables for the event run from $750 to $1,250. Individual tickets are $75 each.
