A prepaid membership program in Greenbrier County can save you big bucks if you have to use an ambulance for medical transports.

The Greenbrier County Emergency Ambulance Service is offering their annual savings plan to the Greater Lewisburg area.

The emergency ambulance membership is a once a year fee that prevents you from having to pay out of pocket if you need an ambulance for an emergency situation.

"The average ambulance bill is over $500 for an emergency transport. Most insurances only pay about 50 percent of that. Usually, depending on the insurance, the person may be liable for the balance. This way it is taken care of in advance," said Jerry Kyle with the Greenbrier County Emergency Ambulance Service.

The membership was mailed out Friday to residents in the greater Lewisburg area.

Individuals pay $30, households pay $50 and senior citizens pay $28 dollars.
