The lifeguards at Princeton City Park Pool are constantly scanning the water.

They're looking for any sign of danger.

"Any sign of panic. Any sign that someone has gone under and is not coming back up. Anyone flailing with their arms in the air," said lifeguard William Sizemore on what he watches for.

According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, more than 50,000 people will go to the emergency room this year in pool-related accidents.

A seemingly harmless day at the pool, they Sizemore said, can quickly turn deadly if he is not on his guard.

"Just looking to make sure people aren't doing anything they're not supposed to and make sure everyone stays above water," is key, said Sizemore.

He reminds swimmers and their parents that the danger doesn't end in the pool. Sizemore recommends an SPF of at least 30 in and out of the water.
