FAYETTEVILLE -

The New River Water Treatment Plant is now operating at close to regular production levels after work was conducted on backup generators on Monday, July 3, which nearly doubled plant
pumpage.

According to a release from West Virginia American Water, the plant and all remote sites are still relying on generator power.  Approximately 800 customers in the Salem-Gatewood, Carlisle and Mossy areas are experiencing water outages; however, the system was repressurized
overnight.  Officials expect their service to be restored sometime Tuesday.

Customers throughout the system - particularly those in the highest elevations - may experience low water pressure as work continues around the clock deploying emergency generators to keep the system fully pressurized without power in many areas.
