WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS -

It appears that the Greenbrier Classic is here to stay.  On Tuesday, July 3 the PGA Tour and the Greenbrier Resort announced that a six-year extension was signed.  The agreement means the fledgling event will continue through 2021.

The current contract between America's Resort and the PGA Tour lasts through 2015.  With the new extension, the Greenbrier Classic is now the longest tournament commitment on the PGA Tour and will it will last through the Tour's television agreements with CBS, NBC and the Golf Channel.  The first two rounds of the event which begin on Thursday, July 5 can be seen on the Golf Channel.  CBS will air the rounds that occur over the weekend.

"The first three years of our contract with the PGA Tour have been a thrilling ride," said Greenbrier Owner, Jim Justice.  "The entire state of West Virginia and the region as a whole have embraced the tournament from the very beginning.  Without the passion and support of our local and regional communities, The Greenbrier Classic could not have grown so quickly into one of the premiere events on the Tour."

2012 is the third year of the Greenbrier Classic, but after only two years the event received several awards from the PGA Tour including the coveted "Best in Class" among all tournaments.
