Benefits of not Smoking Outweigh Associated Weight Gain

Smokers who quit may gain more weight than previously thought.

A new study finds the average smoker gains a little more than 10 pounds a year after giving up cigarettes.  That's more than the 6 pounds doctors usually quote.

But medical experts said the health benefits of quitting far outweigh the modest weight gain.
