New Century Aluminum option good for WV

Posted: Updated:

In today's edition of The State Journal, you can hear from Century Aluminum president and CEO Mike  Bless about his company's plan to reopen its plant in Jackson County.

The company says it can buy energy on the open market from sources other than AEP.

This is good for the company and good for us, who under the proposed scenario, would have been forced to subsidize millions of dollars each for a for-profit company through our power bills.

We strongly encourage the governor and our state Legislature to give them this option and allow them to put West Virginians back to work.
