BECKLEY -
A Wyoming County Man has been sentenced to 5 years in
federal prison and 15 year supervised press release, after pleading guilty to
sending sexually explicit images of minors, according to a press release from
U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin.
In February, Danny Boye Cook, 37, of Pineville, admitted
that he sent 19 images and 4 videos of minor boys engaged in sexual situations
to a law enforcement officer in Houston Texas,
who Cook believed was a 12-year-old boy.
On August 16, 2011,
Cook began communicating with the undercover officers through Facebook, and
later continued conversing through Yahoo Instant Messenger, where the illicit
material was sent.
On August 19, law enforcement offices searched Cook's residence.
Examination of his computer revealed a collection of over 600 explicit images
and videos of minors. Cook admitted to knowing that the images and videos were
on his computer.
The case was investigated by several law enforcement
agencies in Texas, as well as the
West Virginia Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, the West Virginia
State Police, he Wyoming County Sheriff's Office and the F.B.I. Assistant United States Attorney Lisa Johnston handled
the prosecution.
