Governor Earl Ray Tomblin joined the Boy Scouts in Mount Hope on Saturday for safety exercises ahead of the 2013 Jamboree.
The Governor was there with more than 2,000 scouts and representatives from the West Virginia Division of Homeland Security to run through logistics on everything from food distribution to transportation.
After the storm on June 29 that knocked out power to more than 600,000 West Virginians, Tomblin said it is particularly important to remember safety ahead of the big event.
"When you've got this many people concentrated in one area, you got to make some plans ahead of time. I think what we all saw over the past two weeks from the power outages from the storm. We didn't have any fatalities and that's because of training like this that has gone on before."
The 2013 Jamboree is expected to draw more than 30,000 scouts to the region.
