Beckley Cleans Up After The Storm

Posted: Updated:

Weeks after the June 29th storm hit people are still cleaning out their yards from the storm debris left behind, and Beckley's city crew is attempting to help out with those efforts.

On Monday, August 6th Beckley city crews will be starting in Ward 1 to pick up any debris left over from the storms.

Residents just have to put those storm remains to the curb and crews will take the rubble free of charge.

Beckley Mayor Emmett Pugh said there is a reason why crews have had to wait till August to help clean up, "by waiting till August 6th it will give our public works department a chance to finish up everything they are doing…also it will give property owners a chance to get their property cleaned up and get to the curb."

The storm pick up is just for storm trash and not for any electronics or building materials.

Pugh said the storm clean up will be finished when all Wards are completed. For more information the Board of Public Works can be contacted at 304.256.1740.
